Cavuto Ripped Durbin a New One April 28, 2006

It is painful to read/hear Dick Durbin (D-IL). I wonder who would vote for a man who is so clearly detached from reality.

Neil Cavuto really nailed him (see the video here). Hard. Durbin is one of those politicians who appears to be compelled by a strange power to just ignore facts. If the oil companies make 9 cents on a gallon of gas and the government (state and federal) makes 50 cents on a gallon, who is "price gouging?" I like how Cavuto calls it "tax gouging."

I must also bring up a letter from Durbin to one of his constituents regarding the FairTax. I love how Durbin explains why the income tax is so complex:

"some of the code's complexity is the result of efforts to create greater tax fairness…"

Unbelievable.
